Former Bristol manager Dean Ryan has returned to the Championship outfit as a consultant.
The 46-year-old will work one day a week with the club and will continue in his role as a television pundit. Club chairman Chris Booy believes that it is a good move to bring in Ryan.
"I believe the appointment of Dean as a consultant to the club will be a great asset for us," said Booy.
"I am confident Dean's vast experience and knowledge of rugby will provide a real benefit throughout the 2012-13 RFU Championship season."
Bristol reached the playoffs last season, but lost to Cornish Pirates over the two legs.
