Ana Ivanovic defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-2 7-6 in Tokyo to win the Pan Pacific Open title earlier today.
Serbia's Ivanovic broke her Danish counterpart on three occasions to claim the first set in 37 minutes, but the second set was much more of an even contest.
A tiebreak was required to determine a winner, which was Ivanovic, who wrapped it up 7-2 courtesy of a powerful forehand to the corner to win her fourth WTA title of the year.
Speaking after the match, Ivanovic told reporters: "The key for me was coming forward to the net. She is a great offensive player and gets a lot of balls back so it was important for me to come forward and play well at the net."
It is expected that Ivanovic will now move up to number five in the world rankings.
