Greg Rusedski has claimed that Novak Djokovic must be feeling "confident" that he can win the US Open as the draw has worked out "very nicely for him".
The world number one, who won the title at Flushing Meadows in 2011, is likely to escape the majority of big-name threats until the final.
On Monday, the Serbian executed a comfortable 6-1 6-1 6-1 triumph over Joao Souza in the first round.
"I sense that he's feeling very confident and the draw has worked out very nicely for him," Rusedski told Sky Sports News. "Whoever gets into that final is likely to be against Djokovic and they would have expanded more energy."
Djokovic will take on Andreas Haider-Maurer in the next round.
