Alan Shearer: 'Arsenal were shambolic against Stoke City'

Former England striker Alan Shearer describes Arsenal's performance in the 3-2 defeat away at Stoke City as "shambolic" and "laughable".

Former England striker Alan Shearer has attacked Arsenal's performance away at Stoke City on Saturday by calling the Gunners' display "shambolic", and claiming that they will never win the Premier League again unless they improve defensively.

Arsene Wenger's charges lost 3-2 in the Premier League clash at the Britannia Stadium, having found themselves 3-0 down at half time, with the first goal of the match coming after just 20 seconds.

Shearer told BBC Sport: "If you go to Stoke you are going to have roll your sleeves up, fight, scrap and battle. Arsenal did not do that.

"It was a shambles, embarrassing... whatever words you want to use. It was laughable. They were 3-0 down, it was really was shambolic.

"Until Arsene Wenger improves Arsenal defensively they have no chance of winning the league. Having said that I still think they will finish in the top four because that is what they do."

Arsenal last won the Premier League in 2004 and are now 13 points behind table-topping Chelsea.
