Athletic Bilbao captain Carlos Gurpegi has revealed his delight after Ander Herrera remained with the Spanish club this summer.
Herrera reportedly came close to joining Manchester United on transfer deadline day, but a move broke down in the final few hours of the window.
"The market is closed and he is a player of the squad. We have him with us and we must take advantage of that," he told reporters at a press conference.
"He's the one who will have to explain the situation to you. I'm staying quiet and thinking about Athletic.
"Until yesterday at midnight there was the possibility that Ander had left, but it is clear that Athletic had not negotiated. I've seen him today and he's okay. He's very comfortable at Athletic – that's my feeling anyway."
United are expected to return for the Spaniard in January.
