Burnley qualify for Europa League

Burnley qualify for the 2018-19 Europa League courtesy of Everton's 1-1 draw with Southampton at Goodison Park - the Clarets' first European venture since 1966-67.

Burnley have qualified for next season's Europa League as a result of Everton's 1-1 draw with Southampton this evening.

The result at Goodison Park means that Sean Dyche's side are now guaranteed to finish seventh in the Premier League table, sealing a place in Europe for the 2018-19 campaign.

Burnley have only ever qualified for Europe on two previous occasions - reaching the European Cup quarter-final in 1960-61 and also making it to the last eight of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1966-67.

The Clarets could still finish as high as sixth with just three points separating them from Arsenal with two games remaining, although the Gunners do have a game in hand.

Even if they do not catch Arsenal, Burnley are already guaranteed their best finish since 1973-74, when they came sixth.
