Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has made six changes to his starting lineup for Wednesday's EFL Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur, including handing a recall to Romelu Lukaku.
Tuchel revealed on Tuesday that he had accepted Lukaku's apology for comments made regarding his future and has subsequently included the Belgian in his first XI.
With Edouard Mendy having gone on international duty with Senegal, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga takes his place between the sticks, while Malang Sarr, Jorginho, Saul Niguez and Hakim Ziyech also feature from the opening whistle.
Alonso will line up at right wing-back with Saul being used on the opposite flank, alternatives such as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic only being selected among the replacements.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Timo Werner both make welcome returns to a substitutes' bench which also includes youngster Lewis Hall and Harvey Vale.
Thiago Silva and N'Golo Kante have tested positive for coronavirus, while no risks have been taken on Andreas Christensen's back injury.
