Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann has defended Olivier Giroud after Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema took a swipe at his compatriot.
Benzema said during an Instagram Live video that he was "Formula 1" whereas Giroud was "go-kart", before doubling down on the criticism of the Chelsea frontman when questioned on it again.
Griezmann has played alongside both players for France, and insists that Giroud's role in the World Cup-winning squad of 2018 was "important".
When questioned about Benzema's comments on Twitch, Griezmann said: "I can't answer all that, that could get me into trouble.
"I love Olivier Giroud, he's a good player and he helped us win the World Cup. And that's important in life."
Giroud has scored 39 goals in 97 appearances for France, whereas Benzema has 27 goals in 81 international games.
