Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to pay up to £90m for Chelsea defender Reece James in this summer's transfer window after making the player a priority signing.
The England international has recently signed a six-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge, with the 23-year-old having graduated from the club's academy to make his first-team debut in May 2019.
James has endured an injury-riddled campaign for the Blues to date which has limited him to just 12 Premier League starts, providing just one assist as part of a struggling Chelsea side.
According to Football Insider, Real Madrid are keen on bringing James to the Bernabeu following the conclusion of the current campaign and are willing to offer £90m for the player.
The report adds that Chelsea are confident of keeping hold of the defender despite serious interest from Carlo Ancelotti's side, with the London outfit preparing to fight off attempts to lure the 23-year-old away from the club.
James and his Chelsea teammates travel to Anfield tomorrow night to face Liverpool - their first game following the sacking of Graham Potter on Sunday evening.
