A report claims that Cesar Azpilicueta has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with Chelsea ahead of his 30th birthday.

Cesar Azpilicueta will reportedly stay on at Chelsea until at least 2022 after agreeing a new contract worth £150,000 a week.

The versatile defender, into his seventh season as a Blues player, was due to be out of contract in 18 months' time.

According to The Telegraph, however, the Spain international will join N'Golo Kante and Marcos Alonso in committing his future to Chelsea for the long term.

Azpilicueta only put pen to paper on his latest contract two years ago, but he has been rewarded with a weekly wage increase of £30,000.

The report suggests that Chelsea pushed through the new deal as the former Marseille ace turns 30 next year, and the club have a policy of only giving players aged 30 or over one-year extensions.
