Germany will take on Paraguay for the first time since the 2002 World Cup on Wednesday. Here, Sports Mole previews the clash.

The hosting Germans will be without two of their key players for the visit of Paraguay on Wednesday night.

Coach Joachim Low has decided to omit Bayern Munich pair Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Gotze because they have been hampered by injuries throughout pre-season.

Low has also lost the services of Schalke 04 attacker Julian Draxler, who picked up an Achilles injury at the weekend.

However, Chelsea's summer signing Andre Schurrle was named in the squad and has been tipped to start in attack.

Meanwhile, former Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers centre-forward Roque Santa Cruz should be named in the away side's starting lineup.

The two nations last met at the 2002 World Cup, with Germany coming out on top 1-0 thanks to a late strike from Oliver Neuville.

Recent form:

Germany: DWWWWL

Paraguay: WWWDLL

Possible lineups:

Germany: Neuer; Schmelzer, Hummels, Boateng, Lahm; Khedira, Gundogan, Ozil, Reus, Schurrle; Gomez

Paraguay: Villar; Da Silva, Aguilar, Samudio, Candia; Riveros, Martinez, Ortiz, Fabbro; Santa Cruz, Benitez

Sports Mole says: 3-1
