How Southampton could line up against Manchester City

Sports Mole looks at how Southampton could line up against Manchester City for Wednesday's Premier League meeting.

Southampton begin another spell without leading scorer Danny Ings when they make the trip to Premier League leaders Manchester City on Wednesday evening.

Ings limped off in Saturday's 2-0 win at Sheffield United with an ankle problem and is facing a few weeks out.

The Saints are also without Theo Walcott, Michael Obafemi, William Smallbone and Oriol Romeu for this showdown with City.

However, Takumi Minamino, Ibrahima Diallo and Kyle Walker-Peters all returned from injury last time out, which has slightly eased Ralph Hasenhuttl's injury worries.

Che Adams replaced Ings at Bramall Lane and scored a superb goal, with his reward surely being a starting spot alongside Nathan Tella - equally as impressive last time out - up top.

James Ward-Prowse had earlier opened the scoring for Southampton against Sheff Utd and has now been directly involved in 11 league goals this campaign.

In goal, Fraser Forster has started the Saints' last two matches and is expected to keep his place in the XI on Wednesday.

Southampton possible starting lineup: Forster; Maitland-Niles, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Bertrand; Armstrong, Diallo, Ward-Prowse, Minamino; Adams, Tella
