Manchester City board member Alberto Galassi has revealed that the club are hopeful of signing Napoli midfielder Jorginho, but there is still work to be done before a deal can be finalised.
The Citizens have made landing the 26-year-old their top priority this summer, as boss Pep Guardiola attempts to bolster his options in the middle of the park.
A report in The Telegraph this week suggested that a £46.5m fee has been agreed and Jorginho is on the brink of arriving at the Etihad Stadium, though according to Galassi negotiations are still ongoing.
"The club is interested, the player is also interested and Napoli is not opposed to the move," he told Sky Sport Italia. "Having said that, there are still some things to sort out and it's not done yet. It's not an easy negotiation."
Jorginho has represented Napoli more than 130 times since joining from Italian rivals Verona in 2014.
