Wayne Rooney praises Louis van Gaal impact at Manchester United

Wayne Rooney says that Louis van Gaal has made him look at football differently since he took charge of Manchester United.

Wayne Rooney has stated that new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made him look at football in a different way.

The Dutchman has implemented a new system since taking charge at Old Trafford following the World Cup last month.

United have enjoyed a successful pre-season, winning the International Champions Cup last night after beating Liverpool 3-1 in Miami.

"It's been a good few weeks, we've got a new manager who wants us to play a different style of football. We've had to adapt. We've had some good results against top opposition so we can be pleased," Rooney told the Manchester Evening News.

"I think the system suits the team, not only myself. The manager came in and had a look at the players we've got. He's done what he thinks is best suited for our team.

"He's a tough manager but he's been great since he came in. He's given us all a different way of looking at football, which we haven't had before. It's been great for us and hopefully that will continue."

Van Gaal's first Premier League match as United boss is against Swansea City on August 16.
