Oldham Athletic manager Lee Johnson has been charged with improper conduct after being sent off during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home to Tranmere Rovers.
The 32-year-old was furious when referee Eddie Ilderton awarded the visitors a late penalty, as he believed that goalkeeper Mark Oxley got the ball before taking down Ryan Lowe inside the area.
His protests saw him banished to the stands, where he could spend the next few games depending on the outcome of an FA enquiry.
"The FA has charged Oldham Athletic manager Lee Johnson for an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 in that his behaviour in or around the 90th minute of his side's game against Tranmere Rovers on 31 August 2013 amounted to improper conduct," read a statement from the Football Association.
Johnson has until Friday to lodge an appeal.
