Kitson close to Pompey exit
Portsmouth's club administrator Trevor Birch indicates that Dave Kitson is close to leaving the club.

Portsmouth's club administrator Trevor Birch has indicated that Dave Kitson could be close to leaving the club.

It has been commented that Portsmouth need all of their players to leave the club to increase their chances of survival, and Birch has revealed that former Reading striker Kitson could be close to cancelling the remainder of his contract.

Birch told the Chicester Observer: "We are talking and talking sensible. Matters are significantly better than they were before.

"We have to pay him a figure to walk away from his current contract, but there have been some meaningful discussions."

Portsmouth were relegated from the Championship last season but it remains uncertain whether they will be allowed to start the season in League One.
