Brendan Rodgers does not want Swansea to let their debut season in the Premier League "fizzle out" as it comes to a close.

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers believes that it is vital his side don't let their first season in the Premier League "fizzle out".

The 2-0 defeat against Newcastle on Friday was Swansea's third in a row - their worst run of league form since 2004.

After an impressive season so far, in which the Welsh side have earned many plaudits, Rodgers insists that halting the poor form is the main priority for his team. However, with a comfortable cushion over the drop zone, Swansea should retain their top flight status.

"We need to pick up some points and finish the season how it has been for us," said Rodgers.

"This season was a real test of our talent, and we have passed that, it was also a test of our courage and mentality and we have passed that too.

"What we have to do is finish the season off and make sure it does not drift off or fizzle out. We have to continue to fight, we will always learn at this level that if you are a fraction out of position or misplace a pass you get punished."

Swansea currently sit in 11th place in the Premier League table.
