Under-fire Swansea City boss Garry Monk reveals chairman backing

Under-fire manager Garry Monk does not expect to be relieved of his Swansea City duties anytime soon.

Under-fire Swansea City manager Garry Monk has insisted that he has the backing of chairman Huw Jenkins, amid speculation that he could be sacked.

The 36-year-old's future is reportedly uncertain as the Swans sit 14th in the Premier League after winning just once since August - a 2-1 victory at bottom-of-the-table Aston Villa.

Nevertheless, Monk, who takes City to Liverpool on Sunday, revealed that Jenkins backs him to turn things around in South Wales.

"He's given me his full backing, he's been extraordinary and he knows how it works," Monk is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"He knows the process that we're going through and he knows that unity is the only way through it.

"One or two results changes things very quickly in football and you'll see the players trying to get them."

The Welsh outfit sit five points above the drop zone.
