Garry Monk: 'Manchester City must pay up for Wilfried Bony'

Swansea City manager Garry Monk says that Manchester City must meet their £30m valuation of Wilfried Bony if they are to sign the Ivory Coast striker.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has stressed that Manchester City must meet the Welsh club's £30m valuation of striker Wilfried Bony if he is to move to the Etihad.

Talks are said to be ongoing ahead of the 26-year-old's proposed move to the Premier League champions, with agent Francis Kacou claiming that the deal should be completed soon.

Monk remained steadfast, however, telling BBC Sport: "Unless [Man City] reach the valuation we hold... then obviously no business can be done.

"There are talks between the two clubs and at this moment in time it's ongoing. Obviously they have talked about fees, but whether they are close or far apart is unclear at the moment.

"It's important that whatever happens, whatever player that we try to make agreement with or sell, that it reaches the valuation that Swansea hold."

Bony joined Swansea for a club-record £12m from Vitesse Arnhem in 2013.
