Slaven Bilic: Dimtri Payet "very close" to new West Ham United deal

Slaven Bilic confirms that West Ham United and Dimitri Payet are "very close" to reaching an agreement over a new contract.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that Dimitri Payet is "very close" to signing a new contract with the club.

The Hammers announced on Monday that negotiations were underway with the 28-year-old, who only arrived at Upton Park in the summer from Marseille for £10.75m.

According to Bilic, those talks are now not far away from reaching a successful conclusion.

"I think we are very close to Dimitri signing a new contract. Both parties have the same intention and that is to stay at West Ham," he told reporters.

Payet was recently linked with a £38m switch to the Chinese Super League.
