Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez praises his side's mental resolve after their battling 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has hailed his side's mental strength after they came from behind to beat West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

Callum McManaman's late strike earned the Latics a 3-2 win at The Hawthorns, ensuring that Wigan have renewed optimism in their fight to avoid relegation.

Martinez has insisted that his side have the presence of mind to prevail in the relegation battle after securing three points under pressure today.

He said: "We have worked really hard for two months to get us in the position where, with two weeks of the season left, we are still involved in two competitions. If we stay up, it would be like winning the title.

"We showed our character and never accepted defeat. To come back twice from behind at a place as difficult as this is huge.

"To score three goals in open play here is very pleasing and I don't think anyone else has done that this season."

Wigan are two points from safety with a game in hand, which comes three days after their FA Cup final against Manchester City next weekend.
