Last-gasp try sends Wigan Warriors to Super League Grand Final

Joe Burgess scores a last-gasp try to send Wigan Warriors through to the Super League Grand Final at the expense of Warrington Wolves.

Defending champions Wigan Warriors have booked their place in the Super League Grand Final after scoring a last-minute try to beat Warrington Wolves 16-12 this evening.

After a tense 20 minutes at the start of the match, Joel Tomkins scored the opening try of the night - his first since returning to Wigan from Saracens earlier this season.

Joel Monaghan cut the home side's lead in half shortly before half time, finding a gap in the Warriors' defence to score his 34th try of the season.

Warrington took the lead for the first time early in the second half when Gareth O'Brien chased down his own kick forward to score the visitors' second try of the evening before adding the conversion himself.

The lead changed hands again just eight minutes later when the hosts made a break down the left before pulling it right for Anthony Gelling to power his way over.

Stefan Ratchford kicked a penalty to level the scores inside the final 15 minutes, while Richie Myler and Matty Smith both missed drop goal attempts to keep the teams tied with two minutes to spare.

However, Wigan had the better of the chances in the final moments, resulting in Joe Burgess avoiding a couple of blocks to dive over in the corner, setting up a meeting with St Helens for the title at Old Trafford next weekend.
