Kyle Edmund reaches Qatar Open quarter-finals

British number three Kyle Edmund reaches the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open with a three-set victory over Daniel Munoz de la Nava.

Kyle Edmund has overturned a one-set deficit to beat Daniel Munoz de la Nava in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open.

The British number three came through by a 5-7 6-3 7-6 scoreline to reach the last eight of an ATP Tour event for the first time.

The 20-year-old started positively but after establishing a 5-2 advantage, he lost five games in a row to concede the opening set to the world number 75.

However, Edmund struck back in the second to force a decider, before both players squandered opportunities during a closely-fought third set.

After the match headed into a tie-break, Edmund surged into a 5-1 lead and although he suffered a minor blip which saw his Spanish opponent close the gap to two points, he regained his composure to secure the biggest win of his career.

Edmund will now face world number six Tomas Berdych on Thursday, with Novak Djokovic likely to await the winner in the semi-finals.
