Donald Young has admitted that he is upbeat over his future in the game, despite his exit in the fourth round of the US Open.
The 26-year-old lost in four sets to fifth seed Stanislas Wawrinka to crash out of his home Grand Slam, but Young matched his best performance at a major by reaching the last 16 and believes that it will stand him in good stead in the future.
"This was a good step in the right direction for me," Young told reporters. "I think I'm a little more ready to be a little more consistent.
"I feel like things are coming around. I really feel like I'm ready to do it on a consistent level and not just do it for a while or work hard for a little bit and then relax. I'm looking forward to keeping it going."
Young last reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam at the US Open in 2011.
