Top 25 Arsenal players of the Premier League era - #23

Sports Mole's countdown of the 25 greatest Arsenal players in the Premier League continues with number 23 - Nigel Winterburn.

There are plenty of more talented players in this countdown, but in Nigel Winterburn Arsenal found a consistent and loyal full-back who was a key part of arguably the best defensive line the Premier League has ever seen.

Alongside the likes of Tony Adams, Steve Bould, Martin Keown and Lee Dixon, Winterburn helped form a famously organised and miserly defence which helped Arsenal to seven major honours during his 13 years at the club.

Winterburn was part of the title-winning teams of 1989 and 1991 before the advent of the Premier League, and was still there during the double-winning campaign in 1998, two years after Arsene Wenger's arrival.

The two-time England international also won two FA Cups, the League Cup and the Cup Winners' Cup during the Premier League era before leaving for West Ham United in 2000 having made 440 league appearances for the Gunners.
