Baniyas spokesperson Khaled Al Junaibi has confirmed that Amer Abdulrahman will undergo a trial with Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers.
The 24-year-old, who has spent his entire career with the UAE club, had been widely linked with a loan move to Rovers this summer.
However, it has now been revealed that the playmaker will undergo a trial period at Ewood Park before a future decision is made.
"It is not a contract offer or transfer but to attend a trial similar to Omar Abdulrahman of Al Ain underwent at Manchester City last year," he told The National.
"The club believes it will be good experience for Amer, the learning curve and the opportunity to train alongside some top notch professionals in English conditions.
"For the time being, we are treating it as an experience for the player. However, should he impress Blackburn Rovers and if a formal offer is made to us, the club will take it forward from there onwards."
A number of Championship clubs are also believed to be monitoring proceedings.
