Ched Evans will join League One side Chesterfield on a one-year deal later today, according to reports.
The former Wales striker has not played professionally for more than four years after being jailed in 2012 for raping a 19-year-old woman.
The 27-year-old denied the charges and was released in October 2014 after serving half of a five-year sentence before having his conviction quashed by the Court of Appeal in April.
Evans faces a retrial over the allegations in October, but numerous news outlets have reported that he will sign for Chesterfield on Monday.
Any previous attempts to find another club following his conviction have been unsuccessful due to vociferous opposition by fans of the clubs.
However, he now appears to be on course to sign for his first team since leaving Sheffield United in 2012.
