Pep Guardiola aiming to make Manchester City fans "proud"

New Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola outlines his desire to make the fans "proud" of the team.

New Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his desire to make the fans "proud".

The Citizens managed just a fourth-place finish in the Premier League last season, narrowly holding off a challenge from Manchester United to secure Champions League football.

Guardiola has enjoyed huge success in his managerial career so far, and he is hopeful that the fans will get behind his new regime.

"I just arrived 10 days ago so we are still getting to know each other. We are going to try and do my best and we want the fans to, in the end, be proud of what they see," he told reporters at his first press conference.

"They realise immediately if players are committed so we are going to try and work.

"[Manchester] is amazing. The facilities won't be the reason we play bad, they are amazing. It's the best place to learn for young players and it's something to be proud of in the community."

Guardiola's first competitive match in charge of City will come against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on August 13.
