Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester United

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Thursday's Premier League fixture with Manchester United.

Liverpool square off against fierce rivals Manchester United looking for maximum points as they bid to gatecrash the Premier League's top four.

With the trip to the Theatre of Dreams representing their game in hand, Liverpool sit six points adrift of fourth-placed Leicester City.

However, Jurgen Klopp is having to cope with an injury list which continues to grow ahead of the remaining four matches of the campaign.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the visit to Old Trafford.

Jordan Henderson

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: May 16 (vs. West Bromwich Albion)

Liverpool skipper Henderson is recovering from a serious groin problem that has kept him out since February. Klopp stated ahead of the United game that he is unsure exactly when the England international will play again, but it is unlikely to be in the next fortnight.

Joel Matip

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Matip is not expected to return to action before the end of the season due to an ankle injury sustained a couple of months ago.

Joe Gomez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gomez is making good progress on his return from a serious knee injury. The defender has stepped up his training programme, but a return before the end of 2020-21 is unlikely.

Virgil van Dijk

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Van Dijk, the third of Liverpool's long-term central-defensive absentees, has not played since October because of an ACL injury. The Netherlands international has not yet returned to full training and Klopp last week played down his chances of playing at Euro 2020.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Abdominal
Possible return date: Unknown

Backup goalkeeper Kelleher was only expected to spend a brief spell on the sidelines with an abdominal issue, but he has now been absent from the bench for nearly two months and was not part of the squad to face Southampton last time out.

Divock Origi

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: May 13 (vs. Man United)

Origi has not featured in the matchday squad for a number of weeks due to a muscular issue. With just four games of the season remaining, it is unclear whether the Belgian will play again this campaign.

Ozan Kabak

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: Unknown

Klopp revealed ahead of the Southampton game that Kabak had suffered a muscular injury, adding that the centre-back is likely to miss at least a couple of matches.

James Milner

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: May 13 (vs. Man United)

Before the meeting with the Saints, Klopp suggested that Milner was only likely to spend a week on the sidelines with a minor issue. While the Englishman could return to the substitutes' bench on Thursday, he may only be used if required.

Naby Keita

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: May 13 (vs. Man United)

Keita finds himself in a similar situation to Milner. While the midfielder will hope to feature in the group which travels to Old Trafford, he is unlikely to challenge for a place in the starting lineup.

Ben Davies

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: Unknown

When revealing the club's injury problems, Klopp hinted that Davies would follow a similar course to that of Kabak. With that in mind, it is looking increasingly likely that the January arrival will end the season without playing a single minute of football.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no players suspended for Thursday's match.
