Newcastle United have reportedly entered talks with Bournemouth over a possible move for Matt Ritchie this summer.
Ritchie made 33 Premier League starts for the Cherries during their debut season in the Premier League last term, but managed just four goals compared to 15 the year before in the Championship.
Newcastle are currently looking to rebuild their squad following their relegation to the second tier and have earmarked Ritchie as a player who could help them win promotion back to the top flight, according to Sky Sports News.
Manager Rafael Benitez has already been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing goalkeeper Matz Sels from Gent earlier today and also reportedly offering £10m for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle.
The Magpies are expected to lose Andros Townsend, though, and Benitez sees Ritchie as the perfect replacement for the England international.
Newcastle will kick off the new Championship season against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Friday, August 5.
