Unai Emery rules out Blaise Matuidi departure

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery insists that France international Blaise Matuidi is part of his plans for the new season.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has insisted that Blaise Matuidi is part of his plans for the new season, branding the France international "a fantastic footballer".

It had been claimed that Emery, who has brought Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak with him from Sevilla, was prepared to part with Matuidi this summer as he builds a new team in France.

However, the Spanish coach has revealed that he has no plans to sell the 29-year-old Frenchman.

"Matuidi is a fantastic footballer and he belongs to PSG," Emery told reporters during a conference call. "He joins up later because he played the last game, the final of Euro 2016, with the French national team.

"We're waiting for him. I'm waiting for him to come back. He is a great footballer and logically I don't want to dispense with great footballers."

Ligue 1 champions PSG are in action against Italian giants Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup on Sunday.
