Sheffield Wednesday have signed Sampdoria striker Andelko Savic on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old, who made his debut for the Serie A side in January, is a Switzerland Under-21 international.
Owls boss Dave Jones has hinted that he will need to adapt to Championship football.
"He's a young kid with good ability and he just needs to play games and get to know the English way," Jones told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"We've got a chance to take him on a permanent deal at the end of the season and there's a price agreed on that. I'm not looking at him to be ready now. We'll give him a few weeks to settle in and let him find his feet but we've liked what we've seen so far.
"We think we might have a really good player on our hands. People say we're concentrating on young players but it's part of my job to do that."
Wednesday face Millwall on Saturday.
