The Togolese Football Association has confirmed Emmanuel Adebayor's return to international football.
The Manchester City striker, who is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, retired from the side in 2010 following an incident in which Togo's team bus was shot at during the African Cup of Nations.
Three people were killed and nine others were injured in the machine gun attack in Angola.
"Emmanuel Adebayor has reiterated his willingness to be back in the national team of Togo as we actively prepare for the qualifying games of the 2013 African Cup of Nations and the 2014 FIFA World Cup," read a statement by the Togo Football Federation.
"He hopes that a new chapter is now opened in our football by the new leaders of the body. He is committed to kick off the qualifying campaigns with the rest of the team."
Adebayor is on loan at White Hart Lane until the end of the season.
