Emmanuel Adebayor 'not prepared to leave Tottenham Hotspur in January'

Emmanuel Adebayor reportedly has little intention of leaving Tottenham in January after speculation that he will be sold to make room for new signings.

Emmanuel Adebayor could disrupt Tottenham Hotspur's January plans by refusing to leave the club when the transfer window reopens.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wants to offload the 30-year-old in order to make room for at least one addition to his ailing strike force.

The Togolese has only scored twice in 12 appearances this season and has criticised the club's fans for creating a negative atmosphere at home games. He is also believed to have annoyed teammates with his attitude following the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

However, Adebayor has little intention of leaving White Hart Lane because he suspects that his £100,000-per-week contract, which runs until 2016, would not be matched by potential suitors, according to The Telegraph.

Pochettino is targeting Jay Rodriguez from former club Southampton and River Plate's Teofilo Gutierrez, but may have to sacrifice Roberto Soldado if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is not willing to subsidise Adebayor's salary at another club, as Manchester City did when he moved to London in 2012.

New Real Sociedad manager David Moyes is thought to be keen on bringing Soldado back to Spain.
