Caroline Wozniacki bounces back to seal Wuhan Open third-round spot

Caroline Wozniacki overcomes Carla Suarez Navarro in three sets to reach the third round of the Wuhan Open

Caroline Wozniacki managed to fight back against Carla Suarez Navarro to seal a 6-1 3-6 7-6(4) victory and place in the third round of the Wuhan Open in China.

Wozniacki started the stronger of the two competitors by sealing a break point at the first time of asking in the opening set.

Another break was all that was needed for the Dane to storm to a one-set lead in China, leaving her Spanish opponent with an uphill struggle.

However, Suarez Navarro was able to respond by earning the only break of the second set and saving four break points to draw level.

The third and final set was a tight affair with games going by the way of serve in the early stages, but it was Suarez Navarro who drew first blood by breaking Wozniacki's serve in the seventh game.

The Spaniard came close to taking a commanding lead, but Wozniacki responded instantly by earning a break of her own and drawing games level on 4-4.

A tie-break was eventually needed to decide the winner and it was Wozniacki who came out on top 7-4 to clinch the match.
