Arsenal allegedly pulled out of a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani on transfer deadline day.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger decided against recruiting the 28-year-old Uruguayan because he has "no sell-on value", according to The Mirror.
Arsenal were linked with Cavani and Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema heading into the final day of the transfer window, but ended the evening as the only club in any of Europe's top five divisions with no outfield recruits for the summer.
Goalkeeper Petr Cech remains the Wenger's only purchase this summer, despite reports suggesting that the Frenchman had ample funds to spend.
