Kimiko Date-Krumm ousts Nadia Petrova in the first round of the Australian Open.

Kimiko Date-Krumm has dumped out the 12th seed Nadia Petrova 6-2 6-0 to set up a second-round encounter with either Shahar Peer or Alexandra Panova.

The 42-year-old was in relentless form as she swept the Russian aside in just one hour and four minutes.

Petrova made 20 unforced errors in the first set, while the Japanese professional stroked home 11 winners.

Her misery was compounded in the second set, as she endured the indignity of a white wash, while making another 18 unforced errors.

It is the third time Petrova that has exited the Australian Open at the first hurdle.
