Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City join race to sign Gareth Barry?

Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City reportedly join Everton in the race to sign Gareth Barry on a free transfer this summer.

Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City have joined Everton in the race to sign Gareth Barry on a free transfer this summer, according to reports.

The 33-year-old is interesting a number of clubs this summer after being released by Premier League champions Manchester City.

Having impressed while on loan at Goodison Park last season, Everton are favourites to land Barry's signature, though Roberto Martinez faces a battle to convince the England international to join the club.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes, who took Barry to City from Aston Villa in 2009, is hoping to sign the holding midfielder as he continues to build his squad.

It is understood that Harry Redknapp is also monitoring the developments as he looks to strengthen his side following promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs.

It is thought that a number of MLS clubs are also interested, should Barry want to move away from the Premier League.
