Petr Cech: 'Arsenal have not been good enough'

Goalkeeper Petr Cech admits that Arsenal have not performed to a high level throughout the current campaign.

Goalkeeper Petr Cech has admitted that Arsenal have not been 'consistently up to standard' in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal have spent the majority of the season outside of the top four in the standings, with the Gunners sitting five points adrift of the position required to qualify for the Champions League.

The North London outfit have won their last two matches in all competitions, but Cech has acknowledged that he and his teammates have not been good enough during the current campaign.

The 35-year-old told Sky Sports News: "We are a club that belongs in the Champions League, so obviously you don't want to spend years outside of the Champions League spots, but every year the fight for the top four spots becomes harder and harder because the league is very competitive.

"Regardless of that, this season we have had so many games where we were not up to the standard we needed to be and this is something we need to address for the rest of the season. We should have far more points than we have at this moment."

Arsenal are next in action when they face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.
