Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has revealed that a frustrating injury setback has left him unable to run heading into the closing stages of the season.
A campaign disrupted by injuries took another disappointing turn for the Frenchman as an ankle problem was made worse by his eagerness to return to training last month, and he claims that no more risks will be taken in the hope that he can boost Bayern's bid for a treble.
"At the start of the week it was bad and I could not do anything. Only on Wednesday was I able to ride a bike again. This injury came at a terrible time, I was just getting in form. Now I have had to stop for three weeks," Ribery told Goal.com.
"The problem was I started to train again after the Shakhtar match too soon; that was a mistake. There are many important matches coming and I hope I can help the team.
"I can't even run. I tried last week and was in pain immediately. This situation is difficult, but I have to be at 100% first. This is important, looking at the upcoming challenges."
Ribery has been restricted to just 17 appearances in all competitions this season.
