Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini: 'Chelsea are a little, but rich horse'

Manuel Pellegrini responds to Jose Mourinho's comments that Chelsea are a "little horse" in the title race by describing them as a "little, but rich" horse.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has responded to Jose Mourinho's comments that Chelsea are the "little horse" in this season's Premier League title race.

The Portuguese coach has maintained that the Blues are not contenders for the trophy, despite residing just two points behind leaders Arsenal.

"Maybe it is a small horse if the manager thinks like that," BBC Sport quotes Pellegrini as saying. "It can be a little horse, but very rich.

"This is the team that spends most money in the last 10 years, it is the team that spends most money this year and the team that spends the most money in the transfer window so little, but rich."

Chelsea took all three points away from Manchester City by defeating the North-West outfit 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Monday evening.
