Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov has revealed that his former Manchester United teammate Patrice Evra advised him to join the Ligue 1 side.
The Bulgarian hitman signed for the French club from Fulham on transfer deadline day after Claudio Ranieri's side received a ringing endorsement from Evra.
"I spoke about it with Evra, he really told me a lot of good about this team," Berbatov told reporters.
"Not everyone comes to the stadium, but the team is in second place and for the moment is achieving its objective of qualifying for the Champions League.
"I knew Ricardo Carvalho, whom I played against in England, and I don't feel like a new player."
Berbatov is expected to lead the Monaco attack when they take on champions Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
