The Football Association are reportedly unhappy with Chelsea's handling of the knee injury that Reece James picked up in Tuesday's Champions League win against AC Milan.

The Football Association are reportedly frustrated with Chelsea's handling of Reece James' knee injury.

The right-back was forced off in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over AC Milan in the Champions League, and although he will not require surgery, James is expected to be out of action for eight weeks due to ligament damage.

As a result of the diagnosis, James looks set to miss the World Cup, and The Mirror are reporting that the FA are unhappy with Chelsea's handling of the situation.

They are believed to be unimpressed that the 24-year-old did not fly back until Wednesday evening, while he reportedly returned on a budget airline without medical support despite having extra legroom.

While the FA are questioning why James was not assessed sooner, Chelsea are content with how they dealt with the injury.

James is still harbouring hopes of returning in time for the World Cup, with England set to play their opening game against Iran on November 21.
