Manchester United reportedly slap a £40m price tag on the head of Jadon Sancho following claims that Paris Saint-Germain are close to agreeing personal terms with him.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly learned what it will take to prise Jadon Sancho away from Manchester United following claims that they are close to agreeing personal terms with the Englishman.

Sancho has now set aside his differences with Erik ten Hag following an almost year-long dispute with the Red Devils boss, which stemmed from the Dutchman claiming that he left the winger out of a matchday squad for poor effort in training.

Sancho refuted that version of events with an explosive social media statement and subsequently refused to say sorry to his manager, who did not hesitate to freeze him out of the squad.

The Red Devils allowed the 24-year-old to return to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the second half of last season, where he became a Champions League finalist and had a hand in three goals and three assists in 21 appearances.

Following his revival in Germany, Sancho has been re-integrated into the Man United ranks after clearing the air with Ten Hag, and he appeared in one half of the weekend's friendly win over Rangers.

Man United 'to demand £40m' for Sancho

However, the England international's pre-season return is not expected to precede a competitive comeback, and an exit before the summer transfer deadline is still thought to be the most likely outcome.

A permanent return to Dortmund did not materialise, nor did a prospective switch to Juventus, but a recent report claimed that PSG were close to agreeing personal terms with the Red Devils winger.

There is still the matter of striking a deal over a fee with Man United, who have Sancho under contract for another two years and can also activate a one-year extension to protect his value further.

The Red Devils have accepted that they will be suffering a huge loss on the €85m (£71.5m) fee they forked out for Sancho in 2021, but according to The Mirror, they will still hold out for £40m from their French counterparts.

Such a fee should not prove at all problematic for financial powerhouses PSG, especially if a deal to sign £84m-rated Victor Osimhen from Napoli collapses following reports that the Nigerian's switch to the Parc des Princes is in danger.

Sancho was one of the hottest properties on the market in 2020 and 2021 thanks to his rise to stardom at Dortmund, but he has just 12 goals and six assists to show from 82 competitive games for Man United.

Where could Sancho fit in at PSG?

Should Les Parisiens bow to Man United's financial demands, Sancho could potentially fill the boots of Kylian Mbappe on the left-hand side of Luis Enrique's front three following the Frenchman's long-awaited move to Real Madrid.

However, Sancho alternated between the left and right flank throughout the 2023-24 season, so there is every chance that the 24-year-old could also compete with Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola and Marco Asensio for minutes on the right-hand side.

The attacker is not a total stranger to playing through the middle either - whether it be as a number 10 or false nine - but PSG are apparently happy with Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos as their central options if the Osimhen deal falls through.
