Josep Maria Bartomeu: 'Lionel Messi to sign new deal'

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says that Lionel Messi will sign a new long-term deal at the end of the season.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed that Lionel Messi will sign a new long-term deal with the Spanish champions at the end of the season.

Rumours have suggested that the Argentine was unhappy with Neymar's pay packet at the Camp Nou, with the Brazilian reportedly a higher earner than the former Ballon d'Or winner.

However, Bartomeu has confirmed that Messi will become the "world's best-paid player" at the end of the season, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

"We want him to be the world's best-paid player and during summer everything will be sorted," Bartomeu told AS.

"We won't sell him. He's with us and hopefully he will retire at the Camp Nou."

Messi is currently on international duty with Argentina.
