Spain centre-back Sergio Ramos has cited Georgia's defensive tactics and the poor pitch conditions as reasons why his side could only scrape a 1-0 victory this evening.
Spain saw a lot of the possession in the game but were frustrated by Georgia's resilience and took the lead with the only goal just three minutes from time.
"We didn't know how Georgia would play," Ramos told Telecinco. "We saw their defensive attitude and that made it very difficult for us. Besides, the pitch did not help our style of play.
"[I was] not at all [surprised by Georgia's tactics]. When a team respect you, this is what happens. We can't live in the past, we have to keep ahead and keep on winning."
Spain are second behind France in Group I but have a game in hand.
