Derek McInnes: 'No-one to leave Aberdeen while club is in Europe'

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says that he cannot allow any further departures from the club while they are still competing in the Europa League.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has insisted that none of the club's players will be leaving while The Dons are playing in European competition.

The SPL side face Kazakhstan side Kairat on Thursday evening in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie amid speculation over the futures of a number of their players.

The club have brought in just three senior players so far in this summer's transfer window while 14 have left Pittodrie, and McInnes is adamant that he will not be sanctioning any further departures until the European adventure is over.

"I am not going to let good players leave the club at this moment in time," he told BBC Sport.

"We always like to get two or three of the younger ones out on loan, but we can't allow anybody to leave the building while there is so much strain on the squad with the demand."

"No player will be looking to leave while we are still in European competition."

Aberdeen have already progressed through two Europa League qualifying round ties this summer, edging Macedonia's FK Shkëndija on away goals before beating Croatian side HNK Rijeka 5-2 on aggregate.
