Tim Howard: 'Everton believe in Champions League qualification'

Tim Howard says that Everton now believe that they can qualify for the Champions League after thumping Arsenal this afternoon.

Tim Howard has revealed that his Everton teammates are starting to believe that they can qualify for the Champions League after thumping Arsenal this afternoon.

Roberto Martinez's men moved to within one point of the fourth-placed Gunners after coasting to a 3-0 victory at Goodison Park.

With the Toffees boasting a game in hand over the North Londoners, their passage into Europe's elite competition is now in their own hands, and Howard claims that the dressing room is brimming with confidence following the "blockbuster" win.

"It was one of the signature performances since I have been here at the club," the goalkeeper told reporters.

"The fans have waited all season for a blockbuster performance and this was the one. We would like to believe we can finish in the top four - we have got to believe that we can."

First-half strikes from Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku helped the Merseyside outfit into a 2-0 half-time lead, before an own goal from Everton old boy Mikel Arteta capped a comfortable win for Martinez's men.
