Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto reportedly pushes for a summer exit from the Catalan giants in favour of a Premier League switch.

Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto has reportedly informed the Catalan giants that he plans to leave the club in the summer, with Arsenal identified as a possible destination.

The Spaniard sees his current contract at the Camp Nou expire in the summer, and, as a result, he has been linked with several sides across Europe.

According to El Nacional, Roberto has now confirmed his desire to leave to manager Xavi, with the Blaugrana reportedly not offering a new contract to the versatile midfielder.

Due to an injury suffered in October, the 30-year-old has made just nine La Liga appearances so far this season, with only four of those being starts, leading to a fractured relationship between the two parties.

He is now said to have identified the Premier League as his next destination, with Arsenal tipped to secure the Spanish international's signature on a pre-contract agreement.

Since breaking through the Blaugrana's academy, Roberto has made 316 first-team appearances in Catalonia, contributing 12 goals and 37 assists and adding six La Liga trophies, six Copa del Rey triumphs and two Champions League titles to his record.
