Barcelona have reportedly identified Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a possible replacement for Sergio Aguero.
Aguero, 33, is to hold a press conference on Wednesday, where he is believed to be announcing his retirement from football, due to a heart condition.
Aubameyang, meanwhile, was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy on Tuesday over disciplinary breaches, and his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium is now uncertain.
According to the Independent, the Catalan giants are weighing up a potential enquiry for Aubameyang in the January transfer window, though they would hope that the Gabonese striker can lower his £350,000-a-week wages should they enter negotiations.
The report adds that Barcelona would consider a swap deal involving winger Ousmane Dembele, as they are desperate to recoup as much of the £123m they spent on the 24-year-old before his contract expires in June 2022.
As both Aubameyang and Dembele are earning in excess of £200,000 per week, Barcelona believe it could make sense for both parties if an agreement over a swap deal could be reached in the winter window.
Aubameyang has made 163 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal since joining the club in January 2018, scoring 92 goals and providing 21 assists.
